The Quindío is an ideal region for a family trip: distances are short, the scenery changes at every bend, and several big parks were designed with children in mind. Here is how we help families choose, with prices and height limits checked in October 2026, and how to get there without stress.

Why families love the Quindío

In the Quindío, nothing is very far away. You go from a colourful village to a coffee farm, then to a big park, without spending hours on the road. For children it is ideal: they move around, discover new things and never get bored in the car.

And then there is the Willys. Riding in the back of an old jeep with the wind in your hair is already an adventure for a child, and we take all the time needed to make sure everyone is comfortably settled.

A word about the earthquake of 10 August 2026: Parque del Café reopened on 19 August and PANACA on 15 August. For Parque Los Arrieros, reopening has not been confirmed: check that it is open before you go.

The prices below are 2026 prices checked in October 2026. They change often, so check them on each park’s official website before your visit.

Parque del Café, for kids who love thrills

Parque del Café is in Montenegro. It is a large theme park built around coffee culture, with rides, a cable car, a train, a Ferris wheel and the Show del Café, a show of about 40 minutes.

Tickets: the Múltiple ticket costs about 99,000 COP (from 125 cm and up to age 69), the Junior ticket about 69,000 COP (90 to 124 cm) and the Senior ticket about 69,000 COP (70 and over). Online, a 10% discount applies until the day before. Under 90 cm, entry is free, but it only covers the cable car, the train, the Ferris wheel, the carousel and the Zona Caminadores.

For little ones: the Zona Caminadores (70 to 110 cm, with an adult), the Zona Preescolar (90 to 130 cm), the carousels and the Río Lento (90 to 130 cm). The train, the cable car and the Ferris wheel have no minimum height.

Minimum heights for the big rides, according to the park:

  • Krater: 130 cm;
  • Avix: 120 cm, with an adult up to 140 cm;
  • Yippe: 100 cm, with an adult up to 140 cm;
  • Montaña Acuática: 90 cm, accompanied up to 140 cm;
  • Rápidos: 107 cm, with an adult up to 150 cm;
  • Barco del Café: 110 to 190 cm.

Measure your children before you go: it saves disappointment at the front of a queue.

Opening hours: in low season, the park opens Wednesday to Sunday and on public holidays, from 10am to 5pm on weekdays and 9:30am to 5:30pm at weekends. Check the opening calendar on the official website, as it changes with the school holidays.

Strollers: you can rent one just past the entrance for about 20,000 COP, against an ID.

PANACA, for animal lovers

PANACA is in Quimbaya, very close to our departure point. It is a park devoted to country life: around ten animal stations along a trail of about 2.8 km, dog shows, a pig race, and cheese and chocolate workshops. It is an excellent day out for the youngest, who love seeing the animals up close.

Tickets: about 120,000 COP per adult (13 and over), about 85,000 COP per child (from 90 cm to age 12), free under 90 cm, with 10% off online. The Pasaporte Campo, two days including the evening show, costs about 170,000 COP per adult and 140,000 COP per child. Extras: the zip line (about 60,000 COP), the Tibetan bridges (about 22,000 COP) and horse riding (about 45,000 COP).

Opening hours: Thursday to Tuesday, 10am to 4pm, closed on Wednesdays, and open every day in high season (see the official opening hours). The evening horse show runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 6:15pm.

Strollers: PANACA rents them at the entrance for children under 2. The trail is long, so bring good shoes and plan breaks.

Parque Los Arrieros, for paisa culture

Parque Los Arrieros, also in Quimbaya, offers theatre and puppet shows, plus activities around coffee and sugar cane. Prices we found range from about 48,000 to 69,000 COP per adult depending on the ticket office, and entry is free under 90 cm: check the exact price at the park’s ticket office. It normally opens Wednesday to Sunday and on public holidays, from 9am to 4:30pm, and every day in high season.

Two honest caveats. First, its reopening after the earthquake has not been confirmed: check that it is open before you go. Second, some visitors mention double-entendre humour in the shows. Nothing nasty, but if your children understand Spanish well, you have been warned.

Granja de Mamá Lulú, a child-sized farm

Also in Quimbaya, the Granja de Mamá Lulú is a family farm visited with a guide, by reservation, for 2 people or more. The visit lasts about 2 hours: cacao, guadua (the local bamboo) and the farm animals. It is a calm outing, perfect for toddlers or for a breather between two big parks. Wear closed shoes. The price is available on request.

And beyond the parks?

Our Family Day was designed for children: the maze in the morning, a typical lunch, then a coffee tour in the afternoon. For a shorter outing, the Maze by Willys takes half a day, with entry included.

On our tours, children aged 0 to 3 ride free on a lap, and those aged 4 to 11 pay the adult price minus 30%.

What to pack for a park day

  • Water and a snack for each child.
  • Sunscreen, caps and a light rain jacket.
  • Comfortable closed shoes: there is a lot of walking.
  • A change of clothes for the little ones.
  • An ID if you plan to rent a stroller.

Our tips for a great day

  • One park a day, no more: with children, a calm, successful day beats a race.
  • Start early: mornings are usually more pleasant.
  • Buy online: the 10% discount at Parque del Café and PANACA adds up for a family.
  • Alternate: one park day, then a quieter day in a village, on a farm or in the Cocora Valley.

To plan several days, our Plan your trip page helps you combine parks and tours. And if you are unsure, send us your children’s ages and what they enjoy: we will tell you which park they will love most.

Frequently asked questions

PANACA and the Granja de Mamá Lulú suit the youngest very well, with animals to see up close. Parque del Café mostly appeals to older children, but it also has a Zona Caminadores and a Zona Preescolar for little ones.

At Parque del Café, PANACA and Parque Los Arrieros, entry is free under 90 cm (2026 prices checked in October 2026). At Parque del Café, that free entry only covers the cable car, the train, the Ferris wheel, the carousel and the Zona Caminadores.
